Award-winning journalist, freelance writer and entrepreneur Laurie Patton Glasson spent more than a decade as a television news reporter working at the ABC affiliate, KTVO, and NBC affiliate, KYTV. There she specialized in crime, legal and investigative reporting. After the loss of her father several years ago she started her own business, The Life Story Company. Using her broadcast news roots, Laurie videotapes clients' interviews and crafts a documentary style video of their lives that they can pass down to their children. Laurie is the recipient of the 2003 Edward R. Murrow Award for her story about a family devastated by natural disaster. She is also the recipient of numerous Missouri Broadcasters Association awards for her investigative journalism and for breaking news, an Emmy award, and a Gold Addy Award.
One of her most cherished stories never appeared on television. Years before her father, Richard, succumbed to dementia, she conducted an on camera interview with him.
Because he was 52 when she was born, she had a lot to learn about her dad. Richard told her about growing up during the Depression, being a drill instructor during World War II , his college football days, running his own business and--his greatest labor of love--raising ten children with the love of his life, Claire Patton.
Now Laurie’s future children will know their grandfather even though they’ll never meet in person.
As the youngest of those ten children, nothing about Laurie’s Life Story has been average. The love of her family keeps her going every day.
Laurie has been honored both in the state of Missouri and nationally for her story telling ability and investigative skill. Now she and her team want to put those skills to work for you.
